This year marks the 20th edition of the Amsterdam Gay Pride. From July 25th through August 2nd, a slew of indoor and outdoor parties, exhibitions and ceremonies will hit the city, culminating in the world famous Canal Parade on August 1st.

Sinds 1996 vindt jaarlijks het Gay Pride Festival plaats in Amsterdam. De Gay Pride 2012 is van zaterdag 28 juli tot en met zondag 5 augustus. Het visuele hoogtepunt, de traditionele botenparade door de grachten (Gay Parade), staat gepland op zaterdag 4 augustus van 14 tot 18 uur. Het doel van de botenparade is te laten zien hoe breed en divers de homogemeenschap is in Nederland. Naast boten waar feest op wordt gevierd, varen er ook veel boten mee met een specifieke boodschap.

Het Gay Pride-evenement bestaat uit diverse culturele, maatschappelijke en sportieve activiteiten. Daarnaast worden er in het laatste weekend straat- en pleinfeesten georganiseerd. Ook in de directe omgeving van Asia Station is het feest: op de Zeedijk en rond het Waagplein.
